SOFIA IN FIGURES 2009

The National Statistical Institute and Regional Statistical Office of Sofia submit to the attention of national and foreign users of statistical information the bilingual (Bulgarian/English) electronic edition ‘Sofia in Figures 2009’.
The publication is a continuation of the periodicals ‘Sofia in Figures’ issued by the Regional Statistical Office of Sofia.
This publication contains rich statistical information about the demographic, social and economic development of the district Sofia (capital) for 2003 – 2007 period. Data for 2008 are also published on some indicators. The information is presented according to the administrative – territorial division of Bulgaria by district and level 3 of the Statistical Classification of the Territorial Units (NUTS).
Structure of the publication is identical to previous editions. The issue is designed thematically by chapters and each chapter contains methodological notes.
The first chapter features time series from 1995 to 2007 related to the basic indicators about the development of Sofia. General comparable data on statistical regions and districts in the Republic of Bulgaria and the countries of the European Union are also included.
The publication is addressed to state and local authorities, business circles, non-governmental organizations, politicians, researchers, lecturers, students, experts, and to all citizens who are interested in economic and social development of Sofia.
The publication is dedicated to 130-th anniversary of the announcement of Sofia for a capital of Bulgaria.
